   The Shadow

Fall. I didn't like the season. It reminds me of my younger sister and I being separated. Obsession took over her. And I... was sick of it. Always the same. Day and night, without rest sometimes. We fight and yelled. Enough. So I decided to settle elsewhere.

My other older sister lives on a small town. Strange enough, her arrangement of being in that town works. I gave her a call. And she was surprised. I wanted a new start. She cried. Although she denied it, she misses me.

Yeah I forgot to mention. My family is pretty big. I have four sisters and a brother. Hughe, my only brother is a total ass. He and my only younger sister argued at every chance. Even worse, he always took dad's side. I used to think that he's alright. But he picked his work over his family on every occasion. What a shit head! Even worse, he offended the memory of our deceased mother. I'm getting off track. Where was I...

Right, sorry. My sister, excited to say the least. I was dropped off near town. Not long after, she stop oncoming traffic to greet me. I guess mother's habits rubbed off on her. I loved it. Of course, mother never drove. But having my older sister acting a bit like her. Makes me wanna cry. I miss her a lot. The strongest woman in town, my sister. I wonder what is her identity now?
She told me that the town is small. Wow! She is right. We see the town. It is not like my old home where tens of thousands are crammed into city. The air... not as bad, the smoke and soot in the air irritates my lungs. She tells my where an old coal mine exists. Well that explains it. But I'm glad that she stopped it. Stories of dead miners saddened me. But I don't think the town realized about the danger of her nuclear power plant.

We stopped by the convenience store. Everyone gawked at me. They can't believe I'm her sister. Who can believe one sister, tall and dark haired. And myself blonde, slightly shorter, and blue eyed. Of course, this is from my biological father.

Everyone can not believe how nice I am. I do not have my sister's infamous unholy terror and carnage. At least I am more optimistic about people. But still, they seem to love her there. Maybe this is the right place.

Nobody knows about my sister's research. I guess that is good. Boy if they know, they all would freak. To be spied on from space, not something you'll tell. I am glad that they don't know.
We left as quickly as we can. Night is approaching. My sister... I am glad that she helped the town. The mine collapse and the flooding, could of ended this place. Of course that means, she gave up the secret that became the new power plant.

The star is falling behind the mountain. In time too, we arrived at her apartment. It's rusty and worn. But it is home for a while. I miss my best friend. My sister usually babysits her, growing up.

"Hey! Who is familiar young lady? Why I do believe that she's back. Help me with the groceries. Leah, I do miss you," Mr. Jearston says to us.

"Alright, Frank. Leah is here. And this time I think she's staying. But don't think I've forgotten what you owe me."

Frank Jearston laughed his silly ass off. He owed dinner since she paid for his rent. They are old friends. Not bad for "a sixty seven year old who can whoop almost anyone." My sister is the exception. Mr. Jearston knows that she can whoop him. They boxed before. And well... she nearly pissed her pants. He was out by the first punch. That is how my older sister got that tough boxing reputation started.

It is nice for him to cook us dinner. A nice pot roast with potatoes, carrots, onions, and... fannivas? I guess my sister made those. The nice doughy squares from which chopped cheese is inserted into the middle.

I told him about me and my younger sister. Mr. Jearston just mopped. He really like her. She act sometimes like his own daughter. A highly smart daughter who understands the laws of physics.
